Laccetti: “There are some heavily Italian communities that don’t offer Italian language in their schools,…I thought we should revive the spirit of ethnicity — of our roots.” The Garibaldi award is given to high school seniors who have “excelled in promoting the Italian-American legacy” and familiarized themselves with the life of Garibaldi.
